I Saw A Coach For 3 Weeks And This Is What Happened

Have you ever considered getting a life coach? You hear people talking about it a lot on social media, but what do they really do, and how different are they to a psychologist?

I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery since I was about 16. I constantly grow and improve myself and believe that investing in your wellbeing, mental health and personal growth is the best decision you can make for yourself. I’ve had sessions with shamans, clinical psychologists, energy healers and everything in between. I love trying new things and believe there is something to be gained from every experience and interaction.

The shamans helped me cut cords with certain people, which allowed me to move on with my life. The clinical psychologist helped me through a big depression. And the energy healers taught me how to do healing work on myself and others.

But I’ve never truly sat down one to one with a coach to look into the different parts of my life that I want to improve and have a set of goals that I should achieve, until recently, when I met Lauren Iles over video chat.

So what does a life coach actually do?

Whereas many people dig around in your past for the root of the problem, Lauren looked at my life right NOW and helped me see which areas need the most work and how I can achieve my goals.

I’ve had 3 sessions with Lauren so far and I really enjoyed them. I love how she’d constantly remind me to stop talking about other people and bring it back to me. How she patiently listened to my crazy life stories and gave me homework that was both insightful and healing.

Many of us have issues that we could use help sorting out, but even if you don’t, just having someone to talk to can be just as important. Especially since 2020-21 has been incredibly lonely, scary and frustrating for so many of us!

Structure and achievable goals

Most importantly, however, she dug something out of me that I’ve been wanting to do for a while and actually set up a plan with step by step goals on how I can go about achieving it. With everyone else I’d spoken to, it was always greatly based around emotions and healing, whereas a coach will actually give you structure and help you write out the steps you need to take.

Since I moved to the UK I struggled to find inspiration regarding what I want to do with my life and after these sessions I found myself getting excited about something for the first time in years. The funny thing is, it was nothing new, it was something I had been wanting to do for years now, but I just kept putting it off because I just couldn’t bring myself to begin and kept finding excuses as to why I shouldn’t do it right now.

Sometimes it just takes someone else to look at your life and help you find your course again, whether it’s regarding your love life, career, or anything else you are interested in improving.

You all know by now that I only recommend and work with people or brands I genuinely love, so if you feel stuck in your life and want a little support, I truly believe that getting some guidance can work wonders and Lauren has been wonderful!
